A Case For Podcasting Now

The rise of the corporate podcast will be the driving force in making podcasting a ‘real’ medium for advertisers. Remember, TV wouldn’t be with us today if it wasn’t for game shows sponsored by advertisers. Actually, in many cases the shows were 100% funded by the advertiser which entitled them to name the show, eg Shell Pick-a-box and Lux Name That Tune.

Happy Meals to go: the fat backlash

This is getting more and more interesting. When cigerette advertising was banned smoking take-up fell dramatically – but only with the support of a anti smoking campaign. To get the results the govt wants, will they need to create an anit-fast food campaign.

Smart agencies may want to invest some time in researching that if this legislation gets through.

Bloody Stupid

So this will be the end, I hope, of posts re the Bloody Australian campaign.

The back story is that someone with a great sense of humor made a great sendup of the campaign and got a threatening letter from Tourism Australia. Wankers.

Gerry Harvey Loses Bucket Load Of Money

Gerry, why you ever thought that radio, especially AM radio, was going to make a buck is beyond me.

Now, all you have to do to get that mil and half back (plus a shit load more) is to invest in podcasting. Get your people to call my people.

You’ve got my number.

Struth: bloody hell ad banned again – World – smh.com.au

Looks like the tourism minsiter will be off again to try and save this ad in Canada from being pulled. Did no one at Tourism Austraia or M&C do any research outside of their collective wankeries? At this rate, the minister will have done a full round of the world by the end of the year.

How’s the national health system? How’s the deficit? This ouldbe funny if wasn’t so sad.

What goes round…

So Australia helps the US invade Iraq, in fact SAS were first in taking out (that’s a military euphemism for killing people and blowing things up) strategic facilities.

Then Austrlai gets caught scamming the old Iraqi regime in a UN Food for Oil/Oil for Food scheme.

And now Australia is pissed they don’t want to buy our wheat.

Go figure.

Web only episodes of the Office this summer

So now you don’t even need a network to show your programs. You just make them and promote them yourself the way you want. Forget about the crap of worrying what the other networks are going to put up against your show. Just put it out there and the fans grow – or the show dies. Complete control at your fingertips, not someone elses.

Video Podcasting

Had the laptop hooked up to the TV watching some West Wing (Season 7 Ep 13), Lost (Season 2 Ep 14) and Sopranos (Season 6 Ep 1) on Sunday PM. Experimented with watching dl.tv and Diggnation video podcasts – very cool. TV stations are dead, they just don’t know it – perhaps 9 does, that’s why Kerry gave it to ‘One-Tel’ James and put Eddy in charge.
