Had the laptop hooked up to the TV watching some West Wing (Season 7 Ep 13), Lost (Season 2 Ep 14) and Sopranos (Season 6 Ep 1) on Sunday PM. Experimented with watching dl.tv and Diggnation video podcasts – very cool. TV stations are dead, they just don’t know it – perhaps 9 does, that’s why Kerry gave it to ‘One-Tel’ James and put Eddy in charge.

So the federal minister for tourism is heading to the UK ona junket to get a crap ad back on air. M&C Saatchi, the English owned agency has already tried to spin the UK court order in a face saving exercise but alas that worked so well the Australian Government has decided to throw good money after bad by sending a minister and her entourage to the old dart to try fix another monumental fuck up. This is where our taxes go…

The last 3 paras are gold. This idiot from DMG (which owns the Nova and Vega stations) thinks that people want to listen to ads. Interesting when the leading podcasts are ad free. You, Mr Jones, are irrelavant to anything, everything. And thinking for one second that ‘home-based amateur’ podcasting will go away proves that. What did Vega Sydney rate last survey? A mere 10,000 listeners compared to Dr K who gets 30 times that and a podcast like ‘Keith and the Girl’ with 250,000 subscribers. Wouldn’t you kill for a dollar a day from that crowd, Mr Jones? Would make your Vega stations the most profitable in the world rather than the soon-to-be-dead failed $96,000,000 experiment that it is. Back to packing boxes at Franklins for you.
