Yes, it’s a rip off. Yes, it’s been done before. So fucking what – it’s very funny and it works. Now, as for the piss ants who dupped it for Jay Jay’s Jeans, ‘Small Ad’; go and get a real job picking up trash. You are a disgrace.

Tired Tyre Retailing
Actually more stupid and insensitive than tired. Beaurepairs is having a ‘Change of season’ sale, stating that with the rain falling you’ll need to get new tyres on your car. The graphics are supposed to be a weather map, showing rain falling in different locations. If only you fools. Someone forgot to tell these retailing Einsteins that Australia, especailly the big bit in the middle, is in the grips of the worst drought for a century. Pull your non-creative heads out of yourcollective arses and get into the real world. Rating: F
Do Not Choose Mortgage Choice
This is one of the worst ads I’ve seen recently. And by the looks of the actors, they didn’t even want to be in this load of shit either. I bet none of them will add it to their showreels, and I’m guessing the agency and production company won’t either.
The ad is supposed to be an auction, with the lenders bidding for a couple’s mortgage. Problem is, it’s a reverse auction so no one really wants the business. So the take out is this; if you go to Mortgage Choice they’ll find a lender for you who really doesn’t want your business.

Great books about ads @ Amazon
Apology For No Posts
A lack of posts from mid April to mid May was not due to a lack of crap ads or a flourish of great ads. My beloved (and just out of the box) 1.67GHz 15 inch G4 Apple Macintosh PowerBook produced an annoying fault which needed a trip to the MacDr. The repair, a new keyboard and track pad button, took longer than expected. The result being that my ability to update this blog was seriouly limited to my time at the office where I don’t watch much TV and therefore don’t blog at all.
But now my Mac is better so poor creative will be panned and great creative praised at every possible opportunity.
Crap Ad, Ahm
Nothing is sadder than seeing a past sporting hero doing bad ads in prime-time; any time actually. Steve Waugh, one of the greatest Australian cricket captains has now sunk to the depth of mediocrity with his staring role in what can onlybe described as a crap ad for health insurer AHM.
To make things worse, there is a whole campaign based on this woeful idea of Waugh answering questions put to him by, in the first case a panel of ‘journalists’ and secondly by some of his ‘mates’ with the absurd response, ‘Ahm’. Purile at best.

Nice pair
Holeproof launched their new non-slip socks this week with a cute little TVC featuring a dog slipping and sliding on polished floor boards. The little mutt then enters a bedroom to see all the family wearing the new socks. A simple little product dmonstration with cute little doggy. Not a Gold Lion, but it did make me smile.
OMO – Brillliant!
This is the only ad I have seen recently that made me want to talk to people about it. The new strap line is “We love dirt”. Just a brilliant ad. The first great ad in this category since the one where the guy in a nightclub gets the girl to write her number on his t-shirt. Next morning the guys flat mate has washed the t-shirt, clean. And that was 10 years ago.
Must be election tiime…
Oh no, the Libs (NSW opposition) just played the first ad in their campaign. The extremely witty and original ‘rat on a wheel running and running’ theme. Do you think the guys who came up with that think they had something new for an election ad? Probably. My question is this; did the rat come from the opposition’s front bench or back bench?
